Changes of inactive file storage time period

In order to use our server space more efficiently we have to decrease the time period of keeping inactive files on our service. Inactive files are the files that have not been downloaded by anyone for a long time. Current time period values at Uploading.com are much overstated in comparison with other multiple file hosting companies.

New time period values will be enabled on March 18th, this Thursday. Since that day inactive files of unregistered users would be stored for 1 month, of free account owners - for 2 months. Even with these adjustments time period values at Uploading.com would be among the highest ones on the market of popular file hosting services. Sure, this change would not effect premium account owners - their files are stored on the service without any limitations.

Let us please remind that if you would like to prolongate an inactive file on the service, you just need to download it yourself. However if you have lots of inactive important files that are to be used in the near future, then please contact us and will consider your case individually.
New file management tool
02/03/2010

We are glad to introduce a new version of Uploading.com file manager! Now our partners who deal with large amount of files can breath freely - we did our best in order to make your work with files as convenient as possible. Below you can find description of five new file manager features.

1. Division of all files into 4 groups
Active files group contains the files that are popular and are regularly downloaded by the service users.
Inactive files group contains the files that have no downloads for the latest months and thus would be deleted soon.

Blocked files group contains the files blocked due to the complaints received from the rights holders or due to breaking our service rules.
Deleted files group shows the files removed by the user or expired ones (cause of lack of downloads).

Please note that since there was no separation of removed and blocked files before, most of the previously blocked files would be located in the 'Deleted' file section. All new files will be divided into the groups according to the mentioned rules (there also would be the reason of each file block specified).

We would like to remind that an inactive file is reverted back to active status once it is downloaded by a user. We also ask you to remove all the files that you are not going to use (especially since it is so easy to do now).

2. New file search tool
We have implemented a new search mechanism that allows you to execute search based on all files or the files from one specific group only.

3. File categorization using labels
We believe that label utilization is the most efficient and convenient way to organize your files. To the left of the main file list there is a section where it is possible to add new labels, manage existing ones and sort the files by this or that label. You can also select the files required using checkboxes and apply any label to these files (or remove a label from the files).

A label name may consist of any combination of figures and letters, just make sure you can easily manage all your labels. To our mind, using labels is much faster and more convenient than using standard categories. Mass labels application or even replacing old labels with new ones will take several seconds only. And sure, it is possible to generate new labels or apply existing ones to the new files during the upload itself.

4. File sorting tool
Now it is possible to sort the files out by any file attribute using either descending or ascending modes. Now you can easily find and review the files required.

5. File export tool
There are two export buttons in the file manager top menu, so you can export either all files from the list or the selected ones only. It is possible to modify records format in the export file - you can change the order of variables and use the preferable delimiter sign, in addition you can choose output format of the resulting file (whether the links would be exported to .txt or .xls file or just displayed in a new browser window).

We really hope you will find all these new tools useful and convenient. Should you have any comments about the file manager please address them to our support team.

-----------

There is one more change we would like to announce here (not related to the file manager). Since today in the main Revenue Statistics section there would be only file views from paid countries displayed (this feature was requested by lots of our partners). However please note that statistics data for previous days still would show total amount of views from all countries. As we know, this point mislead some of our partners who wondered why total views volume was much higher than the amount of downloads. Also, we do not plan to display number of views from the rest unpaid countries since that would overload our database.

We wish you successful work!

Sincerely your,
Uploading.com Team.
File upload from other file hosting services and via FTP
02/03/2010

Since today we start implementation of new multiple promised features, and here are the first of them. Now Uploading.com officially supports remote upload from several major file hosting services - rapidshare.com, megaupload.com, depositfiles.com and hotfile.com.

However there is a limitation - this option would be available for premium members only. Please note that this change does not effect standard file remote upload - any user can upload files from direct URL and FTP addresses, including the links that require authentication (e.g. login:password@server.com). In addition we expect significant increase of file upload bandwidth next week, what would reduce the remote upload file queue.

The same limitation would work for FTP access to the servers - only premium membership owners will be able to upload files to the service via FTP. We have to take this restriction in order not to overload the system. We would like to note that in the very near future we will release an alternative to FTP upload method - file desktop uploader.

Alongside with these changes we have significantly decreased PIN code prices for our partners. For example, 3 day premium access would be 3 USD only, and a premium account for a half of a year would cost 20 USD. In order to encourage our partners to obtain premium accounts we promise there would be new features released soon, and they will be available for premium users only.

Should you have any questions about new rules please address them to our support team.
Kawasaki Madness сontest results
02/02/2010

We are excited to announce results of the Kawasaki Contest that was launched a year ago and finished yesterday. Just to remind you, that during all this year we were keeping up two lists of 10 Top partners, the first one based on total file download revenue, the second one based on the referral program earnings. According to the contest rules, the main prize, a motorcycle Kawasaki 250-R, is a present for the partners who would gain the required amount of points, or the leaders of the lists (if no one would outdo the required level).

Despite the fact that lots of great strong partners were working with us this year (and their monthly revenue sometimes was much higher than the revenue of the partners from the final 10 Top list), they got lower positions in the Top than the partners who were maintaining steady volumes all over the year. However we have an exclusion here - the leader of the download revenue list gained required amount of points beforehand, and all the followers are far behind from him. This Top1 partner from Canada (the owner of several large file sharing resources) is the only one who earned the required amount of points. Our congratulations! We are already discussing the delivery of the motorcycle to the partner and look forward to the photo!

As for the referral program list, the winner is a partner from Ukraine (with very small difference from the second place), who desired to get the money as a prize, and he will sure get them soon.

Also, we will provide prizes for the partners from both Top10 lists (money prizes in total worth one new motorcycle and PIN codes for premium account activation at Uploading.com).

Our congratulations to the winners! Also we would like to thank everyone for the participation. Let us remind you that the competition was launched by the previous management team of Uploading.com. However, we from our side decided not to cancel it, and we are glad that the contest has been successfully finished.

In addition, we plan new promotional actions in the future, our goal is to cover more partners from different categories. Moreover, we already have some specific ideas for new competitions. At the same time we think that the best way to encourage our partners is to provide convenient file management tools as well as stable service, and these are the main priorities for us at the moment.

We hope for successful cooperation with you!

Sincerely yours,
Uploading.com Team.
